Our Aim
To ensure that purchasers, specifiers and end users of security
systems and guarding services have access to a pool of competent,
professional and ethical providers of products and services.
Our Role
To ensure high standards of service and business ethics within
the community of security and guarding service providers
in the interests of end users. This is achieved through rigorous
assessment of providers against SSAIB’s scheme criteria
(which are based upon PSA requirements) and maintained by regular
and ongoing audit of management systems
and inspection of installation.
We participate in the development of standards and regulations
to ensure that they are current and workable, whilst also maintaining
close liaison with the Garda, Fire Services, the Private Security
Authority and Insurance industry to ensure ongoing support
for our activities.
Our Independence
Founded in 1994, SSAIB is a not-for-profit organisation, setup as a company limited by guarantee, with a Governing Board representing a wide range of industry stakeholders. In addition to representation from the Police (ACPO and ACPO Scotland), Fire Services and Insurers, the Board comprises representatives of various government departments, trade associations, professional bodies, practitioners and relevant consumer organisations.
Our Accreditation
SSAIB is seeking Irish National Accreditation Board (INAB)
accreditation in accordance with the Garda Siochana Policy.
We also have wide UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service)
accreditation, which means that our approach is subject to
independent scrutiny
and
validation
against
international
standards. UKAS is the sole national accreditation body recognised
by the UK government to assess, against internationally agreed
standards, organisations that provide certification, testing,
inspection and calibration services.
