We also operate certification and approval schemes
for Alarm Receiving Centres, details of which are given in
the
section on Monitoring Centre Certification.
Details of CCTV Surveillance certification and approval are
given in the section on Guarding Security Services.
The Private Security Authority became open for licence
applications for the above sector on the November 1st 2005.
From 1st October 2006 it will be an offence to provide
a service in this sector without a licence. Approval
against
this SSAIB scheme will demonstrate compliance with the requirements
of SR 40.
Approval against this SSAIB
scheme will also demonstrate compliance with the An Garda
Siochana Policy on Garda response to security alarm systems.
It will
enable approved companies to obtain a Unique Reference
Number (URN) and therefore a Garda response
to alarms generate
by intruder alarm systems.
